Listening to a song

This is a song written in memory of Janis Joplin by the great singer Joan Baez. I've built this exercise for you to practise the listening skill while you enjoy this beautiful music. Janis Joplin was a wonderful singer who died when she was 27 because of her drug abuse. It was a sad and lonely death. I'm working on her life to talk about her in class one of these days. I hope you like it as much as I do.

If you want to improve your pronunciation

I recommend you to download a free Windows programme that will teach you the English phonetic alphabet and many English pronounciation games. I am sure you are going to enjoy it.

St Patricks Day

St Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years.

On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage. Quiero que hagáis las frases en Simple Past, es muy fácil. Escribís la frase y váis añadiendo las imágenes que elijáis de las que aparecen, si alguna no os gusta, pulsáis en "change" hasta encontréis la que más os guste, luego le ponéis un título y me la mandais.

Con motivo de la celebración del 9 de Mayo DÍA DE EUROPA, la Concejalía de Juventud del Ayuntamiento de Cartagena convoca para este año 2009, la II Edición del Concurso ¿Qué sabes de Europa? dirigido a estudiantes de todos los IES de Cartagena.
El concurso consiste en realizar un trabajo LIBRE en donde quede reflejado vuestro conocimiento sobre Europa.
El formato del trabajo será libre: fotografía, pintura, puzzle, mural, power point, teatro, danzas, artes plásticas, gráficas, etc.
Los trabajos se podrán aceptar tanto en español como en cualquier otro idioma perteneciente a la Unión Europea.
